10 gunmen attacked and took at least 170 people hostage at a Radisson Blu hotel in Mali.
What exactly is happening?
The attackers have locked in about 140 guests and about 30 employees. The hotel is currently locked down and there is no possibility to go out or come in. According to reports, 10 gunmen have attacked the hotel. They drove into the compound in a vehicle with a diplomatic number plate. Jihadists are firing in the corridor.. Police had surrounded the hotel and were blocking roads leading into the neighborhood.
Northern Mali was occupied by Islamist fighters, links to al Qaeda till 2012. They were driven out by a French-led military operation.
