Now it’s time to move away from the American Global Positioning System (GPS) and make way for our own country made navigation system — the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System or IRNSS on our mobile phones.
What the actual story is?
The Indian space research organization will soon demonstrate how the seven IRNSS constellation satellites which will be operational by July next year, will be significantly more accurate than the American GPS system. 4 of the 7 satellites in IRNSS constellations are already in orbit. They are IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D.
IRNSS is essential because the foreign government-controlled global navigation satellite system does not work in all situations.
