Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday signed into law for sweeping economic sanctions against Turkey.
What the actual story is?
Relations between the Russia and Turkey got extreme sour after Turkey shot down a Russian warplane over the Syrian border. Putin called the attack a “stab in the back,” struck back with the sanctions, taking aim at more than $30 billion in trade ties between the two countries. It bans many Russian companies from hiring Turkish citizens and blocks imports of some Turkish goods.
Russia also deployed long-range S-400 air defense missile systems to a Russian air and warned it would shoot down any aerial target that would pose a potential threat to its planes.
