1-RBI extended deadline to exchange pre-2005 notes to 30 June 2016

The Reserve Bank of India has extended the deadline for exchanging pre-2005 currency notes of various denominations till 30 June 2016. As per RBI instructions, the currency notes which were issued before 2005 do not have the year of printing on the reverse side, whereas, notes issued post 2005 have the year of printing at the bottom of the reverse side.

3-Parliament passes Bonus Bill 2015

Parliament has passed the Payment of Bonus (Amendment) Bill 2015. The Bill allows doubling of wage ceiling for calculating bonus to Rs 7,000 per month for factory workers with establishments with 20 or more workers. The Bill also enhanced eligibility limit for payment of bonus from INR 10000 per month to INR 21,000 per month.

4-Biocon launched generic version of hepatitis-C drug Harvoni in India

Biocon has launched the generic version of hepatitis – C drug in the Indian market. The generic version of the drug named Harvoni will be sold under the brand name CIMIVIR-L.

30th National Consumers Right Day was observed across the country on 24 December 2015. The day is being observed annually on 24 December, since the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 was enacted on 24 December1986. However, the World Consumer Rights Day is observed on 15 March annually.

6-North India’s first Cable Bridge inaugurated at Basohali town of J&K

Apart from Hoogly River in Kolkata, Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai and New Yamuna Bridge in Allahabad, the Basohali town ocated in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir has got forth cable-stayed bridge. It is the first cable stayed bridge in north India. The 592-metre bridge was constructed over river Ravi.

7-India’s first indigenously built warship INS Godavari decommissioned

10- IRCTC operates special luxury train Maharajas’ Express for New Year

IRCTC will operate the luxurious Maharajas’ Express train on New Year’s Eve on Delhi-Agra-Ranthambore-Jaipur-Delhi route. The train will depart on December 30 from national capital.
