Indira Gandhi’s third runway is now equipped with guidance systems to keep the runways up and running even in low-visibility conditions.
What the actual story is?
Low-visibility, have long been a huge issue, especially at the Delhi airport. But things are looking a little brighter now. Even this year freezing cold and visibility down to below 50 meters have affected nearly 100 flights.
The conditions were worse in January 2014 when Delhites experienced the worst fog in eight years! A staggering 463 flights were delayed, 52 diverted and 140 cancelled due to poor visibility.
