1.National Mathematics Day observed to commemorate birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan
22 December 2015 is celebrated as National Mathematics Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. He along with British Mathematician Godfrey Harold Hardy discovered the smallest number represented as sum of two cubes 1729 which came to be known as Hardy-Ramanujan number.
2.UNSC extended sanctions against Taliban in Afghanistan
The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution to sanction against individuals and entities affiliated with the Taliban for 18 months.

China has appointed a tough cop named Liu Yuejin as the first counter terrorism Czar to crackdown against Al Qaeda backed security forces in Muslim majority Xinjiang province. Liu Yuejin is a key figure in crackdown on illegal narcotics in China.

5.New Species of Eel, Gymnothorax mishrai discovered along West Bengal coast
New species of eel named Gymnothorax mishrai was discovered by Scientists of the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) along the coast of Digha in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district. The species is 32.4 cm long, brown in colour and the body is without any patterns.

8. China launched DAMPE satellite to shed light on mysterious dark matter
China has launched the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) Satellite to shed light on mysterious dark matter.It was the country’s first space telescope. The satellite will be placed in a sun-synchronous orbit at a height of 500 kilometers to observe the direction, energy and electric charge of high-energy particles in space.
9. Union HRD Ministry launched the 6th All India Survey on Higher Education
The Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smirti Irani has launched the 6th All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) in New Delhi. This would cover all the Higher Education institutions of the country, including Universities, Colleges. The survey is aimed to bring out the correct and complete picture of the higher education system.
