ClickIndia is an online classifieds portal for buying, selling, renting and sharing of goods and services. One can find plethora of ads related to jobs, properties, house-on-rental, used cars, bikes, etc. The team consists of Engineers, MBA’s and Commerce graduate from IIM, IIT, NIT and Delhi University with overall work experience of 41 years.
The core idea behind starting Clickindia is to connect people and to bring a positive change in their life. The only driving force is the people for whom we are working. Every time when we receive positive feedback, it gives us fresh energy and keeps us motivated.
The idea got seeded when I was in college and found the need of cost-effective resources like books, bikes and a trustworthy platform where I can find good tutors. The idea was there in my mind and I took plunge in 2007 when online classifieds industry was evolving.
Q2. How you got idea about to work with startup whether you don’t know it will success or not?
I knew that I had to go into business one day or other, because creating something from scratch is what drives me. The prospects of doing something in classifieds industry seemed interesting because it had both scale and challenges.
Q3. How you thought of starting clickindia.com?
During 2007 the verticals like real estate, cars, matrimonial and jobs was booming. The supply side was not adequate to meet that growing demand despite the readiness of users in India. Also, there was no craigslist like player in India then. These all factors helped me zeroing on the idea of ClickIndia.com
Q3. Tell our readers about your Offline Life?
I admire people who keep a great work-life balance. When I am not in office I love watching movies, exploring new places and reading fiction books.
Q4. Tell us something about your past work and Experiences?
I have 10 years of experience in the industry during which I have worked with India’s largest B2B Company, Indiamart.com in various roles, including product, sales & promotion. I have also worked with Citigroup in the mortgage division where I was responsible for leading a team to build company’s client base in Delhi NCR region.
I was recognized as one of the top 15 young entrepreneurs in India by India’s leading business magazine – Business World – in 2011.
Q5. Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
I come from a business family, so I always knew I had to get into business. The motivation was to solve a real life problem and to help a larger audience, and ultimately giving my contribution in building one Connected India.
Q6. What gave you the idea of starting an online Classified Ads Site?
I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. Since early days, I was fascinated with the scope of Internet and how it could transform the world. When an opportunity came to start a free classifieds, I co-founded Clickindia.com.

Q8. How has the company been doing and how do you think the market will evolve?
The company is profitable from the very first year and, also the response per listing (RPL) is greater than 10, which means that the site is doing well and people are finding some value. The market in classifieds industry is still wide open; the horizontal players are working on excellent customer-experience, while vertical players are evaluating other options for market growth.
Q9. Any advice for the Young Entrepreneurs out there?
Every entrepreneur faces one challenge in the beginning; marketing versus prudent spending; as a marketer, we want to advertise as much as we can to generate traffic. However, in a startup, marketing is not a liberty but only an option because access to funds is limited. We have stuck to prudent financial spending since beginning which has kept the costs in control and ensured we focused on building a better product first before going full throttle on marketing it.
