Chennai has recently witnessed one of the most devastating floods in decades. Recently, Nepal also got worst hit by the earthquake which killed thousands.
Whenever a disaster occurs, we just pass the blame. Some call it an act of god while others call it a man-made disaster. So, is mankind really responsible for these natural disasters? Let’s apply rational logic and find out the truth.
A natural disaster is not the god act, else it’s a man made tragedy. How we even can get away from the reality that it’s us, who are the actual culprit.
If we intelligently try to look into the cause of most of disasters, then we realize that humans are hugely responsible for the climate change which are the main reasons behind most of natural calamities today.
Most disasters like floods and landslides happen due to human interference. Floods are caused because of over construction of buildings. These developments come at the cost of nature. So it’s the mankind who needs to understand that they cannot carry on the development work in the areas prone to natural calamities else they will face the consequences.
Landslides are caused because people cut down trees which loosens the soil. So we must accept its we who are the responsible.
Also, global warming is caused mainly because of human interference with nature which will raise the water level in the sea and ultimately it will cause flooding and submersion of many cities.
Man made chemicals are mainly responsible for ozone layer depletion, which causes the ice melting on the pole. It will also ultimately result in sea level rise and flood.
But if once again we put same rational logic behind these disasters, then we got to know that human are not totally responsible for all these disasters.
It is a natural cycle where everything is balanced by the nature itself.
How can you make mankind responsible for the eruption of a volcano which cause widespread destruction. It’s a legitimate natural disaster.
How can you make mankind responsible for when an under-the-ocean earthquake causes tsunami that wipes out towns. It’s a legitimate natural disaster, too.
We can’t even put the blame on human for everything. Even when the earth was free of pollution and there were no factors responsible for global warming, at that time too, natural disasters used to occur.
We certainly can’t conclude that who is responsible for natural disasters, but we can take effective measures to control the damage and also prevent many. Still, there are no considerable measures implemented to control the damage. If there are no corrective actions, then soon the world would become a worst place to live in.
