Two Indian states, Gujarat and Karnataka have lifted the ban on Maggi noodles. The Bombay High Court has already lifted nationwide ban on Maggi and ordered a fresh test.
What was the issue?
Maggi, a two minute staple food manufactured by Nestle India Pvt Ltd was banned nationwide after some lab found the excess limit of permissible lead in Maggi samples. Following this, the Nestle India had destroyed several thousands of Maggi noodle packets by burning them.
Now the court had directed Nestle India to test the variants of noodles at three different labs. If the company finds test reports that suggest that lead is within permissible limit, then it can start selling maggi again. This test should be conducted within six weeks.
