What the actual story is?

The naked body of Jeffrey Laude was found with her head in a toilet in an Olongapo hotel room on October 12, 2014. Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton was found guilty of homicide by first strangling Jennifer Laude and then dunking her head into a toilet bowl. He said he had become angry with Laude after discovering she had male genitalia. Now, he was sentenced to 6 to 12 years in jail, with time already spent in detention credited.

Laude’s mother, Julita, said she was not pleased with the jail term because she had hoped Pemberton would be found guilty of murder, a more serious crime than homicide.
