At least eight people have died as a magnitude-6.7 earthquake shook northeastern part of country.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was 29 kilometers west of the city of Imphal. The temblor hit at 4:35 a.m. According to administration, some power facilities suffered damage while telecommunication was back to normal. Another tremor, measuring 3.6, was recorded five hours later. In imphal, tremors left large cracks in walls and a portion of a popular market building collapsed, while a bridge outside the city was also damaged.
Tremors were also felt in nearby states Assam, West Bengal and even neighboring kingdom Bhutan.
