1-Zinnias-The first flower grown by astronauts on International Space Station

Astronauts on International Space Station have successfully grown the first flower plant, called zinnias. This plant is part of NASA’s VEG-01 investigation. Zinnias were grown in a veggie chamber with its roots soaked in one-time-use pillows.

2-CBSE launches latest mobile app e-CBSE

CBSE has launched its latest mobile application e-CBSE for providing e-learning material for teachers and students. This is part of the Digital India initiative which seeks to provide learning and teaching resources.

BJ Heiney has launched a new child-friendly search engine, named Thinga. The child-focused platform enables safe browsing, as it only displays results which are either hand-picked by Heiney’s team or pulled from child-friendly websites.

5-Right to health is a human right: Himachal High Court

Himachal Pradesh’s High Court has ruled that the Right to health is a human right guaranteed to Indian citizens under the Constitution. The court  has directed the central government to provide full medical benefits, including medical reimbursement, to retired employees.

6-India is world’s fastest growing economy in 2015

India growth rate has outgrown China and it become the world’s fastest growing economy in 2015. It is also expected to reach 7-7.5% growth in 2016.

7-Union Cabinet gives approval for Raptor MoU

Union Cabinet has approved the signing of an MoU on Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia referred as Raptor MoU. India became the 54th signatory to the MoU.  

8-Madhya Pradesh bans commercial vehicles older than 15 years

Commercial vehicles older than 15 years are banned from running on roads in Madhya Pradesh. Vehicles over fifteen years old would not be issued new permits or granted fitness certificates.

9-Disneyland California to open Star Wars land

In a major announcement, Disneyland has announced to replace a major part of the Frontierland in its California Park with a Star Wars Land in 2016.

10-Usain Bolt voted Athlete of the Year by International Sports Press Association

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is voted as the Best Male Athlete of 2015 by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS). He gathered 27.74% of the total votes to finish above second-placed Novak Djokovic and third-placed Lionel Messi.
