1-Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma decleared as 2015’s hottest vegetarians: PETA

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has named Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma as the hottest vegetarians of 2015.

The Union Ministry of Finance on 28 December 2015 released the report of the Committee on Revisiting and Revitalising Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model.  The committee was constituted to review the experience of PPP Policy and suggest measures to improve capacity building in Government for their effective implementation.

4-SC upholds Kerala’s new liquor policy

The Supreme Court has rejected petitions by bar owners and upheld Kerala’s new policy of issuing bar licenses only to five-star hotels. Private bar owners had argued that the ‘partial ban’ was discriminatory. The Kerala government argued that the new policy is a part to make the state liquor-free by 2023.

5-Civil Aviation Ministry gave clearance for four greenfield airports

The Civil Aviation Ministry on 28 December 2015 gave clearance for four greenfield airports. The three airports will be located in Andhra Pradesh and while forth one in Dholera, Gujarat.Greenfield Airport means a new airport which is built in a new location because the existing airport is unable to meet the requirements of traffic.

6-Greece to rebuild ancient Colossus of Rhodes

Greece will rebuild the Colossus of Rhodes, Greek sun god Helios’ statue. The statue will be five times bigger than the original which collapsed in the third century. The original statue was 30-feet-tall and was among the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.

7- WHO declares Guinea Ebola-free

The World Health Organisation declared the West-African country of Guinea free of Ebola.  Liberia is now the only country yet to be declared free of Ebola.

8- MTNL to offer free roaming starting January

Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday announced that Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) will offer free roaming from January 1.

9-The Big Bang Theory sued for using ‘Soft Kitty’

The American show ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is reportedly getting sued for using the lyrics of ‘Soft Kitty’ over copyright issues. The lawsuit claim that no credit or compensation was given to poet Edith Newlin who wrote the lyrics for ‘Warm Kitty’ in 1937.

10-Individuals earning INR 10 lakh or more to give up subsidised LPG cylinders

Government of India has announced that individuals earning INR 10 lakh or more will lose their eligibility for subsidised LPG cylinders as per a fresh rule implemented from January 2016.
