October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many organizations are working harder to increase awareness of the disease. We have to still fight a very long battle against breast cancer. Here look at some unknown facts about breast cancer.
1-Breast cancer has been called the “nun’s disease” because of the high number of nuns affected.
2-Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
3-85 percent breast cancer occurs in women who have no family history of breast cancer.
4-The risk of overweight women developing breast cancer is higher than in lean women. Obese women are at twice the risk of lean women.
5-The left breast is statistically more prone to developing cancer than the right breast.
6-Every 19 seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with breast cancer.
7-Alcohol consumption increases breast cancer risk but studies have found no direct link between cigarette smoking and breast cancer.

9-Breast cancer occurs in both dogs and cats; it tends to be far more aggressive in cats.
