Fuelling the already widespread beef controversy and criticizing dadri lynching, former Delhi High Court chief justice Rajinder Sachar said that most of the beef traders in India are Hindu.
What the actual statement?
Justice Sachar, who was also the chairman of a committee that recommended reservation for Muslims in 2006, made this remark during an international conference on radical Islam held at RC Degree College in Mathura. During the conference he said, “Almost 95% beef traders are Hindus. Still, a man was lynched in Dadri because he ate beef. This is the death of mankind and humanity. Eating habits have nothing to do with religion. Even I can eat beef.” He categorically say this business of beef trading was run by many MP and MLAs.
Many teachers and participants at the conference walked out of the venue in protest against Justice Sachar’s remarks.
