Goldman Sachs Group’s former Indian American director Rajat Gupta, freed after serving 19 months in federal prison.
Rajat will confine to his apartment until March with an ankle bracelet. Under the rules governing home confinement, Gupta can go to work, visit a doctor’s office or attend religious services. Last year, he applied for an early discharge from the federal correctional facility he was serving his sentence in. He was convicted in June 2012 for leaking tips to hedge fund billionaire Raj Rajaratnam for two years.
Gupta’s former associates say he is in good spirits since returning to his apartment and that he looks back to his prison term philosophically.
